Overview

Nombo̠ Li Gri was founded durring the early 13th century in fall of the year 1201, by Gucun. The establishment of Nombo̠ Li Gri was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Nombo̠ Li Gri's construction back out of the project. Gucun pushed on reguardles, and Nombo̠ Li Gri was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Nombo̠ Li Gri was built using the conventions of Wood Elf durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Nombo̠ Li Gri is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Nombo̠ Li Gri is buildings are built arround a single narrow cobblestone mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the city a over all circular shape. The city sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. Unfortuantly, these would-be-castle fortifications are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

A look around Nombo̠ Li Gri makes you wonder how anything ever gets done. The locals have clear, obvious rivalries with one another, as seen through clenched teeth and fake smiles. What’s more, there is a serious lack of any organization and planning in Nombo̠ Li Gri’s layout as well as the local’s behaviors. The city seems to be a den of chaos where tongues are forked and local customs do not exist.

Cultural Notes

A substantial minority of the locals are descended from foreigners alien to their local neighbors. They may have been religious exiles, economic migrants, indigenous locals surrounded by the existing polity, or a foreign settlement conquered within the relatively recent past. The locals may not be enthusiastic about being ruled by others not of their kind, and their neighbors may look askance at the way foreign customs or even laws may be maintained.

Nombo̠ Li Gri's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is based upon new and innovative technologies of construction and the idea that form should follow function. It was an embrace of minimalism and a rejection of ornament. The style became characterized by an emphasis on volume, asymmetrical compositions, and minimal ornamentation..

In Nombo̠ Li Gri sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Griffon near Nombo̠ Li Gri are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Nombo̠ Li Gri's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.

The conflict ended after roughly 61, when members of Nombo̠ Li Gri's militia enacted an operation to escort a specific expert to a safe location. The operation was complicated by extremely dangerous terrain, including unfamiliar and poisonous plants which many ate while foraging. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in victory for Nombo̠ Li Gri's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Nombo̠ Li Gri's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
